An Integrated Reception System (IRS) is a communal aerial system designed to carry digital signals and is capable of providing residents with Broadcast Services from terrestrial and satellite sources.
Originally communal aerial systems were designed to receive signals up to 860 megahertz (terrestrial TV and Radio Services). These type of systems were designed for analogue terrestrial reception and have insufficient bandwidth to cope with the huge range of digital services now available.
IRS is the only communal aerial system that can meet the demand for access to the full range of digital services including analogue and digital terrestrial TV, radio, digital audio broadcasts (DAB), digital satellite and broadband internet.
